Membership Chairman & Trustee

Hi, I’m Stuart Allen. I’ve been a Lion for fifteen years and held various positions in the club during this time. I’m the current Membership Chairman and it’s my job to increase membership and look after our new recruits once they’ve joined. It’s always great to welcome new members, be they young or old and the fresh ideas they can bring. We are always on the lookout for people who want to contribute to their community and maybe have a bit of fun doing it too.
As well as doing something worthwhile I’ve made a lot of friends and it’s been a very rewarding and enjoyable experience being a member.

Welfare Member & Trustee

Hi, I'm Ron Lindsay, after working as a Design Engineer for 15 years, I then moved into Manufacturing Management for the next 33 years in high speed, high-volume industry. On retirement, I applied to join the Lions organisation. For me, it was a brilliant move.

Since joining the Lions, I served as Club Secretary for 3 years, Vice President for 2 years and I am now in my third year as Club President as well as the Chair of Trustees, within that time I have served as Lions Clubs International Officer.  For me, it is a privilege for me to be a member of Tickhill & District Lions, with currently 37 members, all of whom are committed and dedicated to serving local groups and individuals in need within our communities.

Secretary & Trustee

Hi I'm Jonathon Moody, having moved to Tickhill in February 2019 in part because of the sense of community here, I joined the Lions four months later to play a more active part in that community. I was Activities Chair from July 2020 for a year and resumed the role this month, hoping that this time we'll be able to have an uninterrupted calendar of events. I semi-retired at Easter after 33 years working in primary schools, the last 12 of those as Head Teacher and Executive Head. I now work part time as a mentor for trainee teachers and as a curriculum adviser. I can also be found occasionally looking after the Friday night quiz at the Carpenters Arms. I'm looking forward to the year ahead making sure we're active in all parts of our area.

Welfare Member & Trustee

Hi, I'm Penny Bradley, my varied life so far has always involved helping others, from 20 years as an Environmental Health Officer, to the last few years as a self-employed Holistic Therapist. I have lived in Tickhill (on and off), for over 30 years, and now my kids are grown I have more time on my hands. Joining Tickhill and District Lions is so rewarding, helping others in our community, and having fun and social life too!

Message in a Bottle Officer & Welfare

Hello, I’m Margo Shepard, my life has been spent as a Nursing Sister/Midwife and Field Nursing Officer in the TA. My last job was as Wellbeing Advisor to over 280 residents in a retirement village. Upon my retirement, I joined Lions and felt I really had a duty to play in informing the public more widely about the Message in a Bottle scheme and by visiting community groups, the WI, retirement villages, flats, and sheltered accommodation where I am able to spread the word. You’ll often find me at local galas and events continuing to educate those on the importance of the Lions Message in a Bottle scheme.

Activities Member

Hi, I’m Bryan Kilvington, I have been a member for 40 years having joined the club in 1982 and have been a past President. As the Activities Chairman, I hope the committee can re-introduce our traditional fundraisers I.e Bonfire Night, Santa’s Sleigh and the Easter Egg Raffle. We will also be putting our collective heads together to come up with new ideas to help raise money for our charity fund Any fundraising suggestions would be carefully considered by my committee.

Welfare Member & Trustee

Hi, I’m Matt Rogers, a former primary school teacher, I'm really excited to be taking on the role of Welfare Chair for the next Lionistic Year. It has been great to be able to support a number of worthy causes during my time as a Lion and am looking forward to supporting many more cases as we begin to (hopefully) move out of Lockdown. I am also the Chair of Northgate Pre School and Toddlers and support the running of Northgate Community Hub in Tickhill.

Welfare Member & Trustee

Hi, I’m George Collier, born and bred in Balby I’ve lived in Tickhill since 1989.  I used to cycle around the district as a boy (in the 60s) and I’ve never moved far from my Balby roots so I know the area very well.  I’m a relatively new Lion having joined our club just after I retired, 5 years ago, after 43 years in financial services.  During my short time with the Lions, I have had the honour of being club President for two years before handing the reigns to Ron Lindsay last year. Being a member of our club, making new friends and giving back to the community is very rewarding and with hindsight, I wish I had joined much earlier. I would encourage anyone aged 18 and over to get involved. Away from the Lions, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing golf, fellwalking in the Lake District and rambling in the Peak District.

Communications

Hi, I’m Pete Booth - anything to do with communications and a bit of fun!

Communications & Welfare Member

Hi. My name is Dom Carlin. I am a teacher of history and politics. I joined the Lions in 2021 shortly after the birth of my daughter, Poppy. I wanted to be part of a club that donated to great causes in our community and made a real, tangible difference to people and groups in the local area. Membership of Lions allows me to become involved in charitable deeds, amazing events like the fireworks and provides some great social opportunities too. I’m delighted I joined.

Welfare Member & Trustee

Hi, I'm John Hill and I joined the Lions in the Club Founding year in 1977 and so have been a Lion for 44 years. I've been President, Activities Chairman, Membership Chairman and Welfare Chairman and I am now a Trustee. I held the post of Club Treasurer for a few years.

In the very early years, I found myself involved with the Rossington area because I had contacts there and this has grown as the years have gone by. I'm well known in all the Licensed Pubs and Clubs in Rossington which tells you I am a Social man who enjoys a pint. I have lived at various addresses in Tickhill and Rossington and currently reside in Rossington again.

I enjoy my membership of the Lions and have made many friends throughout the area.
